What you are agreeing to

This page sets the conditions on which thundertiger-europe.com, and any newsletter, alert or feed THUNDER TIGER sends out from it, may be used. Reading the site counts as acceptance. Declining costs nothing and takes one click. We have kept the language ordinary on purpose: nobody checking a scoreline or a safety notice should need advice to work out what loading a news page committed them to.

The publisher

THUNDER TIGER is an independent news publication, owned and operated privately, written in English for an audience distributed across the world. It has no home city, no regional edition and no local desk. Ten sections make up the site: news, business, technology, science, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, travel, auto and gaming. How the newsroom works is described in our editorial standards and corrections policy, and who pays for it is described in our ownership and funding page. Those are commitments to readers rather than clauses of this contract, though we would rather be judged on both.

Permitted and prohibited use

Read the site, link to it, send an article to somebody, quote a short extract with credit and a link back. Search engines indexing pages in the normal way are welcome. All of that is fine and needs no permission from anybody.

Written consent is required before reproducing whole articles, harvesting the site by automated means, mirroring our work on another service, or feeding our material into the training, tuning or evaluation of any model, product or dataset. Attribution does not convert bulk extraction into permitted use, and a licence to quote is not a licence to copy.

Separately, you agree to leave the site’s operation alone: no interference, no probing or defeating its security, nothing submitted with the aim of impersonating another person, no unlawful purpose. Traffic that looks like abuse can be blocked at any point, without warning and without an explanation being owed.

Ownership of what is on the page

Text, headlines, photographs, graphics, layout, styling and code here are the property of THUNDER TIGER or of those who licensed them to us. So are the masthead and the visual identity, and neither may be used in a manner implying that we made, backed or approved something we had nothing to do with. Public documents reproduced on the site remain public documents; what belongs to us is the selection, the arrangement and the presentation around them.

Anything you send in

Copyright in a tip, a letter, a file, a picture or a recording stays with whoever sent it. Sending it gives us permission, non-exclusive and unpaid, to publish, edit, shorten, quote and keep it in our archive as part of our journalism, in whatever format, credited or not according to what we agree. By sending it you are telling us it is yours to send and that publishing it will not tread on anybody else’s rights. Nothing sent to us has to be published. Where somebody has used the confidential route explained on our contact page, those protections override anything in this paragraph.

Comments, advertising and outbound links

Where reader comments are switched on, what you write there is yours to answer for. Material that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, abusive, commercial or simply irrelevant can be deleted, and people who keep posting it can be shut out. Contributions are not vetted in advance and we are not their author.

Advertising here is marked and delivered by an external network. Sponsored articles and paid links do not exist on this site. Any purchase you make from an advertiser is between the two of you; we are not part of it and we vouch for nothing they sell. What we accept and refuse is listed on our advertise page.

Articles link outwards to judgments, filings, datasets, notices and records so that readers can verify us instead of trusting us. Those destinations are run by other people. Their accuracy, their continued existence and their handling of your data are their responsibility, not ours. Citing a source is not endorsing it.

What we do not guarantee

Checking happens before publication and correcting happens after it, and both procedures are public. Even so, journalism is produced against a clock, prices and results move once a page is live, timetables shift and official records get amended. Nothing here amounts to financial, medical, legal, engineering or travel safety advice, and reading us creates no professional relationship. Our disclaimer works through this subject by subject.

Access is offered on an as-is footing, with no warranty of any description, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the site will be reachable, that a link will still work, that a figure has not moved since publication, or that an archived article describes the position today.

Liability, indemnity and copyright

So far as the law permits, neither THUNDER TIGER nor anybody working on it carries liability for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary loss connected with your use of the site or your reliance on what is published: lost profit, trading losses, travel missed, data lost, business interrupted. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at what you have paid us, which is zero. Where even a cap is impermissible, it applies only as far as it lawfully can.

If something you send infringes another party’s rights, or your use of the site breaks these conditions and generates a claim against us, the resulting costs and damages, reasonable legal fees included, are yours to cover.

Copyright complaints follow the route described on our DMCA and copyright policy page, which lists what a notice must contain and what happens after one lands. Equivalent laws elsewhere are handled through the same steps.

Law, amendment and the remaining clauses

The law of the place where the publisher is established governs these conditions, conflict of law rules aside, and the courts there hear disputes arising from them. That jurisdiction, along with registered details, is confirmed in writing to anyone with a proper reason to ask; put LEGAL at the front of your subject line. Consumers whose own law lets them sue locally keep that right entirely. Before anything formal is started, please write. A large share of disputes about a news site turn out on inspection to be corrections in a stiffer envelope, and those can be settled the same day.

These conditions can be amended. The date shown changes when they are, anything material is flagged before it applies, and continued reading afterwards signifies acceptance. Access to the site, in whole or in part, can be withdrawn or suspended at will. An unenforceable clause falls away without disturbing the rest, and choosing not to enforce something once does not surrender it. Together with our privacy policy and cookie policy, this page is the complete agreement between us regarding the site.
