Ascentiz Bets Hikers Will Buy a €3,999 Modular Kit
Ascentiz is asking IFA buyers to fund a €3,999 hip-and-knee kit while the knee module and BodyOS SDK still wait to ship.
Ascentiz priced a full hip-and-knee modular exoskeleton at €3,999 for IFA 2026, then said the knee kit still has no ship date. The Berlin stand in Hall 12, Booth 109, is selling one Exo-Belt that can take a hip motor, a knee motor, or both.
Only the hip units are on sale. The company is asking hikers and outdoor workers to buy a shared belt now and wait on the second joint, plus the software tools due in mid-November.
The Exo-Belt Is What They Want You to Keep
The Ascentiz modular exoskeleton is built around that belt, which holds the battery, the controller, and the code that times the motors. Hip bricks (Ascentiz-H) and knee bricks (Ascentiz-K) clip on through AZ-Lock, a MOLLE-style quick release, and talk to the belt over CAN-FD. Swap by hand in seconds, the company says, instead of wrapping the whole lower body in a fixed suit.
H is the climb motor. It is meant to push you forward and up on walks, runs, and steep trails. K is the downhill motor. It adds knee help, support, and braking when load and impact rise. Wear H, wear K, or snap on both as H+K. BodyOS is the layer that is supposed to keep those motors from fighting each other.
The H Ultra, the hip kit you can order from the company shop, lists 1100 W peak and a 31-mile range with two batteries, at 5.5 lbs (2.5 kg). The H Pro on the same comparison chart is 1000 W and 15.5 miles (25 km) with one battery, and the same 5.5 lb weight. Both share an IP54 rating. The Ultra pack uses T700 carbon and titanium, claims up to 40% less leg effort and 66 lbs taken off the hips, and lists 16 motion types with a 0.2 s mode switch. Peak torque on that page is 48 Nm. Charge is quoted at 100 W, empty to full in 65 minutes. The charger is not in the box. Fit is listed from 5.1 ft to 6.6 ft. Warranty is one year.
H ULTRA ON THE BELT
- Peak boost: 1100 W, with 48 Nm listed on the shop page.
- Assisted range: 31 miles (50 km) from two batteries; the Pro kit is 15.5 miles from one.
- Carry weight: 5.5 lbs (2.5 kg) for both hip kits.
- Trail rating: IP54 weather sealing, with noise listed at 35 dB or less.
Four user modes sit on top of that hardware: Ease, ACC, Train, and Boost. Train adds resistance. Boost is an app burst for steep ground. The official account has also been telling visitors to load the belt like a MOLLE panel, hanging a bottle, camera, or light on the same rail that holds the motors. That is the camera-body idea in plain gear: keep the belt, clip on whatever the day needs.
What Ascentiz H and K Cost at IFA
A Sept. 3 company release H Pro at €1,599 and H Ultra at €2,299, both on sale now through the Ascentiz shop. K Pro is listed at €2,399 and K Ultra at €2,999. The Pro Combo is €3,599. The Ultra Combo is €3,999. The same note says K and H+K ship dates will be announced soon.

Buy H Pro and K Pro later as separate kits and the sticker is €3,998, which is €399 above the Pro Combo. Buy both Ultra kits separate and the math is €5,298, which is €1,299 above the Ultra Combo. The bundle only helps if the knee actually ships, and if you were going to buy it anyway.
Hip-only rivals already live in a lower band. Exoskeleton Index, a specialist tracker of consumer walking kits, puts purchasable powered systems roughly between US$800 and US$2,000, with the Hypershell X Ultra S listed at US$1,999 and the DNSYS X1 shown from US$829 on a current offer (US$1,299 as the regular price on that chart). An Ascentiz hip at €1,599 sits in that fight. The €3,999 stack does not. The extra money is the bet that a second joint, still in the booth, is worth more than another company’s finished hip kit.
Why the Hip Motor Is Built Unlike the Knee
Ascentiz does not use one motor design at both joints. A January CES note described a quasi-direct-drive hip and a cable-drive knee, each tuned for a different job. The hip drive is built for speed and a natural push. The knee drive is built for sustained torque and shock, with the motor mass kept off the swinging limb. That CES note claimed a 50% drop in knee cartilage pressure and a 30% drop in energy wasted on center-of-mass shift, figures the company has not broken out as independent lab tables in the IFA papers.
The hip requires speed and precision; the knee demands torque and stability. By tailoring each module’s drive system, we achieve a natural, powerful assist, never robotic.

Cody Kou, vice president of Ascentiz, made the same split in the IFA release. People do not move one way, he said, and hips and knees do not ask for the same help on every pitch of trail.
We chose modularity because people do not move in one way or need the same assistance all the time. Different activities place different demands on the hips and knees. We believe wearable robotics should evolve with those needs, rather than lock every capability into one fixed device.

That is a fair engineering case. It is also a sales case. If the joints truly need different motors, a one-piece suit wastes metal on the joint you are not using today. If they do not, you are being asked to warehouse a second motor on a shelf at home. The IFA demo is meant to close that argument in a few minutes on a hall floor. A long descent with a pack is a different test, and that test is not on the price card.
BodyOS Opens in Stages After Berlin
BodyOS is the common control layer for H, K, and whatever clips on later. The IFA release says it was opened as source in 2026 and is meant to grow through software updates, new Ascentiz bricks, and hardware from labs and outside builders. Kou has been blunt that this is not a single dump of tools.
Opening BodyOS is a process, not a switch. We are starting with the DevKit hardware and firmware, then adding SDK and API access, developer demonstrations, and community programs in stages so each layer is ready to support the next.

THE BODYOS ROLLOUT
- IFA hardware: DevKit boards and firmware are on the stand for builders to handle in person.
- Mid-November tools: SDK and API access are slated for mid-November, when BodyOS Program members are expected to start showing early apps.
- Later meetups: Workshops and hackathons are planned after those tools settle.
Company BodyOS wearable robotics developer notes frame the software as the thing that outlives a single joint. That is why the Berlin stand has been as much a recruiter desk as a hiking counter, with developer kits already on the IFA stand for people who want to write modes or clip on new hardware. Hikers do not need an SDK to walk up a hill. They do need to believe that a belt bought in September will still accept a knee, a new mode, or someone else’s add-on after the show lights go out.
On Sept. 7 the official Ascentiz account said the IFA job was to put the K modules and the DevKit in front of the room, the two pieces a shopper still cannot take home.

IFA’s Floor Already Sells Other Powered Hips
The category is no longer a single booth novelty. Tech writer Prakhar Khanna, who tried Ascentiz for a few minutes walking the IFA floor and climbing stairs, noted that he first ran a Hypershell X Ultra at IFA 2025 and that the 2026 floor had at least half a dozen options. His short trial is one of the few public tastes of the hardware that is not a spec sheet.
It assisted me at just the right time during each stride to make my movements feel natural. Plus, the weight didn’t bother me at all. And at the end of my brief testing, it was easy to take off, like pulling out a few clippers.

A hall-floor walk is not a 20 km ridge. It is still a useful specimen: the motors timed the stride, the 5.5 lb hip kit did not announce itself, and the MOLLE clips released without a fight. That is the product Ascentiz can defend today. The product it is pricing at €3,999 is the combined kit, and Khanna’s minutes do not settle whether hip and knee stay in step for a full day.
WHAT THE FLOOR ALREADY OFFERS
- Finished hip kits: Hypershell and DNSYS sell complete hip assistance in the US$800 to US$2,000 band, with flagship Hypershell listed at US$1,999.
- A crowded aisle: At least half a dozen consumer options were on the IFA 2026 floor, up from a much thinner 2025 set.
- Ascentiz’s extra ask: Pay hip-kit money now, then more later, for a knee that is on the stand and not on the shop shelf.
The loud public fight on X never showed up. The argument is quieter, and it sits in the price card: a hip you can buy, a knee you can try, and a combo total that only makes sense if you trust the second shipment.
The Knee Module Still Has No Ship Date
IFA Berlin runs September 4 through 8, 2026. Ascentiz, founded in 2023, brought the same modular idea to CES on January 9, 2026, with an AI layer it said was trained on more than 690,000 gait cycles and 99.5% motion-recognition accuracy. Eight months later the hip is a shop product and the knee is still a date to be named. That gap is the wager, not a side note.

A hiker can leave Berlin with a 5.5 lb hip kit and a belt that is ready, on paper, for a second motor. The second motor is priced. The software calendar is dated. The box with the knee in it still has no day printed on the side.
