Ford Cuts 2027 F-150 Raptor Prices by Stripping Gear

Ford cut 2027 F-150 Raptor and Tremor prices by stripping comfort gear, then put the V-8 on every trim after EPA greenhouse rules fell.

Ford priced the 2027 F-150 Raptor from $77,800, $4,000 less than the current truck, after pulling fog lamps, a head-up display, and other comfort gear off the entry model.

The Tremor falls about $5,300 to $62,400 on the same pattern. The 5.0-liter V-8 also returns to King Ranch and Platinum for the first time since the 2023 model year, a change dealers had been asking for while greenhouse gas rules were stripped out of federal vehicle standards.

The $77,800 Raptor Drops Fog Lamps and Seats

Ford did not cheapen the Raptor’s long-travel suspension or the Tremor’s skid plates. Todd Eckert, Ford Blue senior director of truck consumer marketing, said the lower stickers broaden the offer and do not take capability from the new entry or from the models they sit under.

John Walawender, F-150 consumer brand manager, said the work was meant to keep off-road hardware while opening the trucks to more buyers. Ford still sells the higher-content Raptor and Tremor groups. The new rungs are extra, built on cheaper cabins.

The entry Tremor is based on the STX. It gets that trim’s steering wheel, manual air conditioning instead of dual-zone climate control, no heated front seats, a six-speaker audio system instead of an eight-speaker B&O set, no off-road running boards, and fixed rear glass instead of a power sliding window.

The entry Raptor loses the head-up display, fog lamps, the Mobile Office package, a power passenger seat, and under-seat storage. Pro Power Onboard in the bed falls from 2 kilowatts to 400 watts. The steering column is manual. Bang & Olufsen audio drops from 14 speakers to eight.

Sam Abuelsamid, vice president of market research at Telemetry, said the dollar cuts are large enough to matter in a market that has been arguing about truck prices for years. Buyers already pull running boards and add their own lights, he said, and Ford can sell those parts later.

The 2027 F-150 lineup itself starts at $37,790, or $40,585 with the $2,795 destination fee, against a 2026 start of $39,585. None of those figures make a Raptor cheap. They make a second, thinner Raptor that costs $4,000 less to put on a window sticker.

2027 ENTRY OFF-ROAD STICKERS

Model 2027 start Change vs 2026 What Ford pulled
F-150 Tremor entry $62,400 About $5,300 less Heated front seats, dual-zone climate, power rear glass, off-road running boards, B&O eight-speaker set
F-150 Raptor entry $77,800 $4,000 less Head-up display, fog lamps, Mobile Office, power passenger seat, 14-speaker B&O, 2 kW bed power

Walawender said Ford “repackaged some content that wasn’t quite as important to those customers” to buy the lower start points. Off-road trims already account for about a quarter of Ford’s U.S. sales, and he said the company still does not know where that mix tops out.

Dealers Asked for a V-8 on King Ranch and Platinum

The 5.0-liter engine, rated at 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, will be offered from the XL work truck through Platinum. King Ranch and Platinum have not had that option since the 2023 model year, when Ford boxed those luxury trucks onto EcoBoost V-6 and hybrid power.

We heard pretty loudly from both customers and dealers that even on those premium series, that they wanted the option to have a V-8 engine.

Todd Eckert, Ford Blue senior director of truck consumer marketing, briefing reporters

Kelly Kohlstrand, F-150 chief program engineer, put the same request in plainer words: customers and dealers said they wanted a V-8 across the lineup. That is not a new taste. Full-size truck lots have treated a naturally aspirated eight as the engine you spec on a crew-cab that also pulls a dump trailer, and the King Ranch and Platinum bans had left those buyers staring at a turbo six.

The timing is not only customer mail. On February 12, 2026, the Environmental Protection Agency repealed greenhouse gas emission standards for highway engines and vehicles after rescinding the 2009 Endangerment Finding. Manufacturers no longer have future GHG measurement, control, or reporting duties under that action, which the agency limited to greenhouse gases and left traditional air-pollutant rules in place.

Kohlstrand said product plans still take years, so the 2027 truck is not a weekend rewrite of a federal docket. It is the first F-150 model year that can put the 5.0 back in the leather trims after that docket moved. Ram is already selling a non-hybrid 5.7-liter V-8 without stop-start in its 2027 1500. Detroit’s eight-cylinder pause is over for anyone who wants to pay for it.

A Bigger Base Engine With the Same Peak Power

Ford’s quieter 2027 change sits under the XL hood. The new standard 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 shares architecture with the 2.7-liter it replaces and keeps the same peak ratings, 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Ford says it reaches peak pulling power earlier and supplies roughly 10% to 11% more torque in the rev range used for daily driving.

Kohlstrand described the seat-of-the-pants result as stronger off the line, with cleaner freeway merges and less gear hunting. Max towing with the 3.0 is 8,400 pounds on a Regular Cab 6.5-foot box 4×2. Max payload in that same layout is 1,755 pounds. The old 2.7 is gone from the chart.

2027 F-150 POWERTRAIN CHART

Engine Output Where it sits
3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 325 hp, 400 lb-ft; 8,400 lb max tow New base engine
5.0-liter V-8 400 hp, 410 lb-ft Now optional XL through Platinum
3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 500 lb-ft; 13,500 lb max tow Heavy conventional towing
3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid 570 lb-ft; 2.4 kW or 7.2 kW Pro Power Still the hybrid path
3.5-liter high-output EcoBoost 450 hp, 510 lb-ft Raptor
5.2-liter supercharged V-8 720 hp, 640 lb-ft Raptor R

The 3.5-liter EcoBoost still does the 13,500-pound tow, on a SuperCrew 6.5-foot box 4×4 with the Tow/Haul package and the Max Tow axle. The hybrid keeps the onboard generator that the entry Raptor just lost in its cheaper form. Ford did not publish a new miles-per-gallon set with the Tuesday brief, so the 3.0’s fuel claim is still an on-road question.

What BlueCruise With Towing Will and Won’t Do

BlueCruise with Towing lets a 2027 F-150 steer, brake, and keep speed on more than 130,000 miles of divided highways Ford calls Blue Zones while a trailer is attached, as long as the driver watches the road. It is the first Ford vehicle to get the feature. An active BlueCruise plan already on the truck covers it; Ford is not adding a towing surcharge.

Ford says more than 75% of F-150 customers use the truck to tow, a figure drawn from an IPSOS 2025 new-vehicle study of U.S. buyers. The company tested the software on U.S. roads and in its Dynamic Driving Simulator across trailer combinations. Sammy Omari, head of Ford’s advanced driver assistance systems and the Latitude AI unit, said the launch is deliberately conservative on width, sway, and construction zones.

BLUECRUISE TOWING LIMITS

  • Who gets it: Every BlueCruise-equipped 2027 F-150 from XLT and Tremor through Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.
  • Load cap: Hands-free towing up to 10,000 pounds, on trailers up to 33 feet long and 8.5 feet wide, with Max Tow hardware for the full weight.
  • Speed cap: 75 mph, below the 80 mph ceiling on regular BlueCruise, and slower if the system has already seen sway.
  • Driver chores: A trailer profile must be entered; hands-free lane changes are off; construction zones demand hands on the wheel.

Marisa Zelip, ADAS and BlueCruise product manager, said the aim is to make the towing mode a daily habit the way BlueCruise already is on empty highways. The XL and the Raptor are outside that offer. A desert truck that just lost its head-up display also will not steer a boat down a Blue Zone.

Carhartt’s First F-150 Starts at $62,660

The other new sticker in the brief is a clothing deal. Ford and Carhartt, both Detroit names, already put a Carhartt package on Super Duty. For 2027 that look moves to a 4×4 XLT Crew Cab F-150. The Carhartt Package is $4,195. Ford lists the F-150 Carhartt at $62,660 MSRP plus destination and delivery, which is $65,455 once the $2,795 fee is added.

Orders opened September 15, 2026. Ford said the truck will be available in early 2027. The rest of the 2027 F-150 lineup is due in showrooms in the fourth quarter, according to the same briefing.

Bhavna Mistry, a Ford color and materials design specialist, said the 20-inch wheels take their geometry from steel I-beams rather than copying Super Duty’s manhole-cover design. Ben Ewy, Carhartt’s vice president of design, research and development, called the truck a mix of branded design, bed protection, and interior details for people who want durability without giving up style. The partnership, Ford notes, goes back to Carhartt overalls for Ford factory workers in the 1920s.

WHAT THE CARHARTT PACKAGE ADDS

  • Outside: Unique 20-inch wheels, Carhartt fender vents and badging, lower rocker and tailgate graphics, Tremor-style headlamps and cowl hood, dual exhaust, off-road running boards, and a spray-in bedliner with a Carhartt mark.
  • Inside: Two-tone Carhartt-themed seat covers with triple-stitch seams, updated door and console trim, a stitched steering wheel, and all-weather mats with the brand’s tool-bag texture.
  • Who can buy it: 4×4 XLT Crew Cab only; it is a package, not a new cab or bed.

XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum also get new grilles and wheels. Those are the “modern spin on a familiar face” Ford said customers asked for. The Carhartt truck is the one that will photograph itself on job sites, which is the point of paying $4,195 for logos.

Aluminum Fires Took 100,000 F-Series Trucks

All of this lands while Ford is still filling holes left by its aluminum supplier. Novelis’s Oswego, New York, hot mill, which supplies about 40% of U.S. automotive aluminum sheet, went down after two fires. Ford’s F-150 and Super Duty use large aluminum bodies, so the outage hit the company’s most profitable trucks first.

THE NOVELIS OUTAGE

  1. September 16, 2025: A fire knocks out the Novelis hot mill in Oswego, New York, cutting sheet supply for F-Series bodies.
  2. November 20, 2025: A second fire damages rolling equipment during repairs and pushes a full restart into 2026.
  3. Through late 2025: Ford loses about 100,000 F-Series builds and books a hit of up to $2 billion; Lightning output at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center stays down.
  4. June 2026: Novelis restarts the hot mill and begins a months-long ramp, while Ford adds shifts and as many as 1,000 workers in Michigan and Kentucky.
  5. September 4, 2026: Rob Kaffl, Ford’s director of U.S. sales and dealer relations, says the F-150 is turning at 41% and dealers should see more stock in 30 to 90 days.

Sherry House, Ford’s chief financial officer, said in the second-quarter 2026 call that U.S. inventory sat at 52 retail days, under a 55-to-65-day target. Ford planned about 50,000 extra gas and hybrid F-Series builds in 2026 to claw back volume. The 2027 brief is, in part, a product story for trucks that can actually be built again.

The franchise is still the franchise. Ford sold 828,832 F-Series trucks in 2025, up 8.3%, the 49th straight year as America’s best-selling truck, and it outsold the next nameplate by almost 250,000. The F-150 hybrid set a record at 84,934, up 15%. Those figures include a year already bent by the mill fires.

Gas Trucks Get the Aluminum the Lightning Lost

The electric F-150 is the other bill for that sheet. Ford halted Lightning production in late 2025 and later took the truck off the configurator, moving Rouge EV Center workers toward Dearborn Truck Plant gas production. Lightning sales in 2025 were 27,307, down 18.5%. Jim Farley, Ford’s chief executive, has said the company misread post-Covid demand and that high-end electric vehicles in the $50,000 to $80,000 band were not selling.

So the 2027 F-150 that dealers will order this fall is a gas and hybrid catalog with a V-8 on the leather trucks, a physically larger base six, a Carhartt XLT, and two off-road models whose new low prices come from seats, glass, lamps, and speakers. Farley’s stated aim is more choice and more volume on the trucks that still print money.

Walawender said Ford wants to meet customers where they are in the off-road mix and that more is coming. The entry Raptor still starts at $77,800. The V-8 is back on Platinum because dealers said the six was not enough. Those two facts can sit on the same window sticker.

Ten years in journalism sit behind that, a reporter's stretch followed by an editor's, and the habits show in what he reads before he writes: the filing rather than the results announcement, the judgment rather than a summary of it, the electoral authority's own count, the safety notice as the regulator issued it, the paper with its sample size and its stated limitations, the governing body's official record, the specification sheet, the release notes. Figures get checked against whatever produced them, then checked again for the base they were calculated from.
