Playground Games has rolled out the full PC system requirements for Forza Horizon 6, just days before the racing giant roars onto Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19. The studio split the specs across four performance tiers, and there is a sweet surprise waiting for handheld players. Premium Edition early access kicks off today, May 15.
Forza Horizon 6 System Requirements Break Into Four Tiers
The new spec sheet covers Minimum, Recommended, Extreme, and Extreme Ray Tracing presets. Every tier needs Windows 10 or Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer, plus an SSD for storage.
Here is the full breakdown players need to know before installing the game.
| Tier | Target | CPU | GPU | RAM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 1080p / 60 FPS Low | Intel i5-8400 / Ryzen 5 1600 | GTX 1650 / RX 6500 XT / Arc A380 | 16GB |
| Recommended | 1440p / 60+ FPS High | Intel i5-12400F / Ryzen 5 5600X | RTX 3060 Ti / RX 6700 XT / Arc A580 | 16GB |
| Extreme | 4K / 60+ FPS | Intel i7-12700K / Ryzen 7 7700X | RTX 4070 Ti / RX 7900 XT | 24GB |
| Extreme RT | 4K Upscaled / 60+ FPS | Intel i7-12700K / Ryzen 7 7700X | RTX 5070 Ti / RX 9070 XT | 32GB |
The minimum tier is friendly to older rigs. The GTX 1650 launched back in 2019, and the Intel Core i5-8400 hit shelves in 2017, so plenty of dusty PCs can still get into the festival.
Storage needs are not light. PC players need around 160GB of free space on an SSD, with NVMe drives required for the Extreme tiers. That is a big leap from Forza Horizon 5, which only needed roughly 103GB on PC.

DLSS 4, FSR 4 and Ray Tracing Power Up the PC Build
The PC version is loaded with the latest upscaling tech. It supports NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, AMD FSR 3 and 4, and Intel XeSS 2.1 right at launch.
Ray tracing is the real headline feature this time around. Forza Horizon 6 brings Ray-Traced Reflections on cars and the environment, plus Ray-Traced Global Illumination that computes indirect lighting in real time.
- 4K HDR visuals with ultrawide monitor support
- Uncapped framerates for high-refresh-rate displays
- Live settings changes with no game restart required
- Real-time VRAM and memory readouts inside the menu
- Built-in benchmark tool for performance testing
Early benchmarks paint a rosy picture. According to one PC performance analysis, even an aging RTX 2080 Ti can push roughly 62 FPS at 1080p on max settings without ray tracing.
NVIDIA users on the RTX 50 Series can crank things further. With DLSS 4 Quality and Multi Frame Generation, frame rates can climb past 200 FPS at 4K with ray tracing enabled.
“All in all, Forza Horizon 6 is one of the best optimized PC games of 2026. It runs smoothly on a wide range of PC systems, and it looks amazing.”
Steam Deck and ROG Ally Get Verified Handheld Support
The big news for portable players is official handheld validation. Forza Horizon 6 is Steam Deck Verified and fully optimized for the Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X at launch.
Valve has confirmed the default controller mapping works well, in-game text is readable, and the default graphics setup performs cleanly on the Deck. That is a strong sign for road trips and couch sessions.
Cross-save ties everything together. Progress syncs across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, SteamOS devices, gaming handhelds, and the PlayStation 5 version that arrives later this year.
Japan Setting, 550 Cars and Massive Pre-Launch Hype
Players are finally getting the setting they have begged for since the franchise began. Forza Horizon 6 takes the Horizon Festival to Japan, with Tokyo serving as the largest urban area ever built for the series.
The map stretches from neon city streets and dockyards to touge mountain passes, rice fields, and snowy slopes. Iconic touchpoints like Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo Tower, and Mt. Fuji all make appearances inside the open world.
The car list is gigantic. Over 550 real-world vehicles are confirmed at launch, including beloved JDM classics, Western supercars, and aftermarket builds with up to 540 degrees of steering wheel rotation.
By the Numbers
- 500,000+ copies pre-sold on Steam alone before launch
- $30 million in reported pre-sale revenue on Steam
- 4 days of early access for Premium Edition buyers
- 22 brand-new cars never seen before in a Forza title
The game lands on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one. Standard launch hits at 12:01 AM local time on Xbox and the Xbox App, while Steam unlocks globally at 4:01 AM UTC on May 19.
A PlayStation 5 release is on the calendar for later in 2026, though no firm date has been announced. Players who hop in from any earlier Forza Horizon title can also reclaim legacy cars like the Mercedes-AMG One, Aston Martin Vulcan, and Lamborghini Centenario.
The buzz online has been wild, with racing fans flooding social feeds in countdown mode and dream-build threads taking over Reddit and X.
