Google Health App Lists Pixel Watch 5 Before the Event

The Google Health app now lists the Pixel Watch 5 as a selectable device users can attempt to pair, two weeks before Google’s hardware event. Screenshots shared via Telegram and first detailed by Android Authority show the unreleased watch sitting at the top of the device list. Tapping it opens a setup flow that cannot complete because no hardware exists yet.

This is Google outing its own product through an official app rather than a leak site or diver’s find. The listing confirms the watch is far enough along for software support while removing most remaining doubt about its arrival.

What the Health App Shows

Android Authority reported the sighting after a tip from Telegram user @sameera_s_w. The Pixel Watch 5 appears above other options in the Google Health device list. Selecting it leads to a dedicated setup page and a screen asking the user to connect the watch to Google Health.

No specs, sensors, or battery figures appear. The flow stops at the connection step. The artwork for the Pixel Watch 5 matches the Pixel Watch 4 exactly in both the list and the setup screens. Google appears to have dropped in a placeholder name and reused the prior generation’s images.

The same pattern has appeared with other Google hardware in recent cycles. This one simply sits inside the app every Pixel Watch owner already uses daily.

Placeholders Signal Final Software Prep

Reusing Pixel Watch 4 visuals makes sense if the physical design barely changes. Multiple prior leaks already showed a near-identical round case, crown, and button layout. The app team needed a selectable entry so the Health backend and pairing code could ship and test before launch day.

Google Health itself is still relatively new as a brand. The Fitbit app became the redesigned Google Health wellness app starting May 19, 2026. That transition moved users onto four main tabs and folded in Gemini-powered coaching. Adding next-generation hardware support this early fits the rollout calendar.

Users who try the listing today simply cannot finish pairing. The presence of the name alone is the news.

The August Event Now Feels Locked

Google has set the August 12 Made by Google event for 3 p.m. PT. The company is teasing “the next generation of Pixel” and expects the Pixel 11 series plus the Pixel Watch 5 on stage. Pre-orders are expected to open the same day or the next.

The Health app listing lands inside that two-week window. It joins FCC filings, Play Console entries, and high-quality renders as evidence that little remains unready. Previous Pixel Watch cycles sometimes announced in August and shipped weeks later. This year’s calendar looks tighter.

The watch will almost certainly arrive in 41 mm and 45 mm sizes with both Wi-Fi and LTE options, matching the current lineup.

Familiar Chip, Bigger Memory

A Google Play Console listing examined by 9to5Google gave the Pixel Watch 5 the codename “godric.” The SoC remains the Qualcomm SW5100 platform used since the Pixel Watch 2 era, with the same four Cortex-A53 CPU cores and Adreno 702 GPU. The co-processor details are less clear.

The meaningful jump is memory. The listing points to 3 GB of RAM, up from 2 GB on every prior Pixel Watch. That extra capacity is widely expected to support deeper Gemini features and smoother multitasking on Wear OS 7.

Battery capacity rumors point to modest gains (around 327 mAh on 41 mm and 459 mAh on 45 mm in one report), but those figures remain less solid than the RAM and chip data. Wear OS 7 is already rolling to current models and will ship on day one.

New Colors Meet a Higher Price Floor

Renders and leaks describe four finishes: Pyrite, Warm Gold, Dark Anthracite, and Natural Silver. The case shape stays almost identical to the Pixel Watch 4, so color and band options will do most of the visual work. One earlier set of high-quality images matched these names closely.

Pricing is the sharper change. Leaks compiled by Droid Life put the 41 mm Wi-Fi model at $399 (up $50 from the prior $349), the 45 mm Wi-Fi at $429, the 41 mm LTE at $499, and the 45 mm LTE at $529. Memory shortages and industry-wide cost pressure are the stated drivers. Those numbers line up with the leaked price jump and new colors already covered here.

If the final tags hold, Google will ask buyers to pay more for a device that keeps the same basic silicon and design language while adding RAM and software polish.

Google Health Now Owns the Experience

The Pixel Watch 5 will be the first model to launch after the full Fitbit-to-Google Health rebrand. Existing owners already live inside the new app. New buyers will never see the old Fitbit branding on first setup.

That line from Google’s May product post by Taylor Helgren, Director of Product Management, frames the entire shift. The app now uses a four tabs layout for connected devices: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health. Premium subscribers get the Gemini-based Google Health Coach for plans, sleep coaching, and summaries.

Badges are gone. Medical records sync (in supported countries) and third-party connections via Health Connect stay. The Pixel Watch 5’s early appearance inside this app is therefore more than a software slip. It shows the hardware team and the health software team are already aligned on the new stack.

Some current Pixel Watch users have complained about Health app permissions glitches and sync friction. The next watch ships into that environment rather than the older Fitbit one.

Self-Leaks Have Become Routine

This is not Google’s first early reveal. The company has previously exposed Pixel phones inside its own systems. A watch reportedly found while diving off St. Martin earlier this summer already carried Pixel Watch 5 markings and sensor callouts. Play Console listings, FCC filings for four model numbers, and OnLeaks-style renders filled the rest of the summer.

On X the reaction has been low-key recognition rather than shock. Posts from Android Authority and Droid Life drew solid views but limited outrage. One user simply wrote “What is even happening” above a screenshot. The crowd now treats Google app listings as another checkpoint on the road to the keynote instead of a major breach.

That normalization is the quiet cost. When the August 12 stage lights come up, the Pixel Watch 5 will already feel familiar to anyone who opened Google Health this week. The hardware is ready. The surprise is not.
