The JCB Hydromax averaged 406.320 mph across two timed runs on the Bonneville Salt Flats on August 11, claiming the FIA world land speed record for a hydrogen internal-combustion vehicle. Direct injection at ~50 bar replaced the production port injection. A dry-sump system pumps a litre of oil every second so the sideways engines stay lubricated.
